Our collection of bolsters, cushions and other homeware products are all made using the finest fabrics, different fabric manipulation and intricate embellishment. The handmade finishes will provide customers with bespoke, elegant products that are well worth their money. We stand out due to our perfect embellishment and beautiful unique designs, therefore our products become fashion as well as functional items.

Work Experience:

Evans in West Quay Southampton:

I was given the chance to work with the company and was asked to go back to work during the summer and holidays. I worked as a fashion sales assistant which involved advising customers about outfits and dealing with deliveries. Working for such a well known company helped build my self confidence and improve my public relation skills.

Wessex Heartbeat Charity Event:

I helped to put together a fashion show at the fundraising charity event in aid of Wessex Heartbeat in April 09. It was an amazing experience because I learnt so much about the fast paced backstage work and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

As sales director I am going to use all my efforts to find suitable places to sell our product such as up market craft fairs, fashionable high end markets, small interior boutiques and maybe internet sites selling similar products as ourselves, also I will assist in the marketing aspect of our business. Bryce d’Anice Aime:


I was lucky enough to be offered a placement after an extensive interview programme. I have thoroughly enjoyed a three month placement completing various tasks in the design studio. During my placement I have worked alongside the Pattern Cutter, creating patterns manually on the mannequin, cutting and sewing together toiles for their S/S 09 collection and showpieces for London and Paris fashion week. My duties also involved measuring and checking patterns before they were sent to the factories, amending patterns and checking and repairing the final garments. I performed all my tasks to the best of my ability and to a very high standard. At Bryce d’Anice Aime I learnt to work at a very professional level both in my attitude and skills. I thrive in the working environment, so much so that I would like to start my career immediately rather than staying in education. I have received a reference from Bryce d’Anice Aime which I would be pleased to bring along to an interview.

Collins, Caddy & Pope Partnership:

Position: Personal Assistant.  My duties included general office work and taking notes at meetings. Whilst there I was taught to use the computer design program ‘Auto-Cad’, and by the end of the four months had created and amended many of the company drawings. I was also introduced to the design process from Client specifications to the final product. I was offered a full time position with this company.

I headed up the Events Organisation Team at my sixth form, this was very successful and we organized many events for up to 200 people.

I have also been appointed Kit Secretary on The University of Portsmouth Netball committee; this involves designing and ordering complete Netball kit for the entire squad.

Brand PR:

I was asked to fill a 2month work experience position for a beauty PR Company based in London. My role included general office duties, assisting account managers by handling press enquiries, mail outs, press cuttings and regular contact with journalists to gain information on forward features. This environment excited me very much as I was given challenges and deadlines to meet on a daily basis. I enjoyed communicating with journalists and towards the end of the placement I was given my own beauty product to handle and managed to receive my own press coverage that was featured in magazines and websites. I now have a better understanding in terms of how a small PR company works and hungry to explore the Fashion and Beauty PR industry further more. 

Headquarters Hair Salon:


Working for the successful salon helped build my self- confidence and gave me the opportunity to explore my own creative style. Working alongside professional stylists, make-up artists and photographers such as Mo Nabbach inspired me to develop my artistic goals. Throughout my time at the salon I was able to experiment with photography and fashion styling bringing my own inventive imagination to play. This resulted in my being asked to participate in a photo shoot for the Hairdressers Journal, where my work was featured on the front page of the magazine. I was also fortunate enough to compete in major tournaments such as L’Oreal Colour Trophy.

Employment:

Sense Staff London

I got working for a promotions agency to gain more communicating skills; this involves working alongside a team and sometimes individually. This has helped my confidence in pitching my ideas and selling my opinions onto others.

Receptionist at Headquarters Hair Salon

I was asked to return to the salon to be the weekend receptionist, this role was challenging as I had to deal with difficult clients, finance and ensure the salon was running smoothly at all time. I was given great job responsibilities.

Name: Jenna McDonell

Personal profile:

As Finance and Purchasing director I will have to analyze our predicted figures, work out how much money we will need to fund the project and how much profit we will hopefully to make. I feel I am qualified for the job as I have experience in using spreadsheets for business plans. I am excited to start our company and start creating our cushions because of the textile element involved. I hope to better myself in skills such as screen-printing to create beautiful, embellished cushions which will be an asset to any home.
